Brief Introduction for Paper Surface Finishing

There are some types of surface finishing that we use when making boxes. They are spot UV/hot foil/embossing/debossing/silk print/lamination.

Let’s start from lamination. Usually matte lamination box is for foreign customers and gloss lamination is for domestic buyers. Art paper has to laminate before printing, so ink will color on the paper. Soft touch is very special lamination, it is much more slippery and it gives much better touching feeling.

How to make the box look more luxury?

Hot foil is a good choice. There are 2 colors to choose from. One is gold the other is silver, however, gold color is more popular than silver.

Spot UV can be seen as “colorful hot foil”. It will give the box much more color to express the content product texture or brand tenet.  

If you want some sense of concavo-convex, embossing and debossing are talented for your need. Embossing is bulge to highlight this part. You can emboss the logo or product image to get extra eye attention. It is attractive compared with other flat box.
