China-US paper export comparison on 48191000 and 48195000

I did some research on China-US paper export comparison.

Let's draw a conclusion first. 2022 US import data has dropped sharply compared with post-covid years 2020 and 2021.

I collect data under 2 HS codes, 48191000 and 48195000. Obviously, 48195000 has less import weight and less value. It drops almost 4 times to 0.023 million tons.

As we can see that 48191000 still dominates the import value. Althought it drops 6 tims compared with 2021, but US still needs corrugated box.

This decline owns to Russia-Ukraine conflict, supply chain is under pressure, which leads to cost pressure. Terminal market price increase is limited, so buyers turn to other suppliers.

China leading enterprises start to invest to domestic supply chain hoping to bring the price down and ensuring supply chain security.
